KIDS SPRING DRESS

SIMPLE DRESS

Materials Needed: 2 yards of fabric any kind
Matching Thread and embellishments of your choice.

Make your own pattern by placing the well fitted dress on folded fabric and draw outline of it and cut it, now your bodice part will be ready.

For the bottom part, cut a rectangle like the way I did for  simple skirt

Hem along the arm hole and neck line, I have used lace along the neck line, but you can leave it as it is.
For the back piece make a slit in the middle for about 4 inches long and attach the rectangular long strips, for more details you can see my pajama top , attach the buttons and make the button holes.

Make two strips like this for tie back and pin it to the bodice part and sew along the sides .
This is how it should look like after sewing the sides.

For the bottom part make long stitches along the top edge of the bottom part and pull one of the thread to make the frills and close the sides of the rectangle.

Adjust the frills so that it meets the circumference of the body part, pin it to the bodice and sew it together.

Draw pattern like this for the sleeves, cut it out and make the frills at the mid point of the sleeve, hem the edges and attach to the arm hole.

Kids Room Decor

Canvas Decor For Kids Room

Materials needed to make this are : Canvas board of any size you prefer I have used 16x20
Wooden letters, acylic paint any color you want, painters tape, glue and brush that's it.

Arrange the letters on the board and check if it fits or change the alignment accordingly .

Next step is to sand the wooden letters, coz if you could see in the above picture the edges are
rough, smooth it up using the sand paper, I have used the fine grit sponge, but if you use fine grit paper that works best to get into the tiny gaps. Rub the sponge/paper along the grain of the wood, if you are not sure about the direction of the grain, just rub your fingers on the wood and feel, if its smooth that's the right direction, if it is rough then its wrong direction, if you sand in the wrong direction it will worsen it, and you can't skip this step, if you do your final outlook won't be good, * Else you can buy the flat wooden cut letters ,its very thin and smooth finished so you don't have to sand. Since I wanted a bold look I have used these letters.

I have painted the letters and some wooden cut outs.

I have used a 16x20 board so I have made boxes of size 4x5 inches using pencil and ruler, and then stick the painters tape on the line such that the line lies along the midline of the tape.( Trust me use a good tape so that you will get the fine edges, I have used some cheap $3 tape and i totally regret using using that, coz I had a hard time making the tape to stick on the board and results were not that good if you could see in the picture below, so please use a good brand.

I glued the letters  and the wooden cut outs to it I have used the hot glue gun, that works better for this compared to the regular one.

STUFFED BISCUITS

                                                                 Ingredients needed are :

For the Biscuit you need Bisquick pancake mix or you can use all purpose flour and baking powder to make your own mix and greek yogurt( you can use any kind of yogurt). For the stuffing you need onions, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and veggies of your preference.

I have taken 2 cups of pancake mix, 1cup of yogurt and 1/2 cup of milk. If you are using all purpose flour/maida for 2 cups of flour you need to add 1 tbspn of baking powder. You can use any kind  of Yogurt you want I have used greek nonfat one, you can even use buttermilk you have one, and this measurement will make up to 6 biscuits, so you can adjust the measurements according to your need.
Mix up all the ingredients, Use a fork or spoon to mix it up, coz when you use your hands you will end up mixing the dough too much, so the biscuits won't be soft and puffy. With the fork or spoon mix the dough by roughly making folds but not more than 10 folds, If you press the dough too hard you will make the air pockets escape and it will turn up hard once you bake. After making the dough refrigerate it for an hour or so.

Make the basic onion tomato masala by sauteing the onions, tomatoes and ginger garlic paste.

Add the veggies I have used potatoes, peas, carrots and beans, salt and chilli powder. Of course you can make any stuffing you want. I have tried it with filling of spanakopita it came out well for that stuffing you need to saute onions and spinach for 3 to 5 mins and then add feta cheese, salt and pepper, that's it you can add mushroom to it if you want that gives the crunchy taste to it. Try it with any kind of stuffing you won't be disappointed.

Cook the mixture for about 10 to 15 mins, If you microwave the veggies, you can cut down the cooking process.

Once the stuffing is ready, bring it down to room temperature

Dust your work surface with flour and then take a ball of dough and roll it into a round disc of 1/2 inch thick.

If you have a press like this use it up, or if you have Calzone press that would be very perfect, Or If you don't have any press don't sweat it out, just put the filling on one side of disc, and bring the other half to close the disc that's it.

Repeat the process for the remaining part of the dough, Don't worry about the shape , If you try making it up to proper semicircle or crescent you will press the dough too much and the crust will turn out hard and crunchy. Once done arrange it on baking tray or rack lined with aluminium foil, don't need to grease the foil.

Before you could start making the biscuits, you can pre-heat the oven to about 400*F, Once the oven is ready place the goodies in the oven and bake it for about 15 to 20 mins till they into brown in color.
The cooking time depends on your oven. So keep an eye on it. Once it comes to room temperature you can easily take it off from the foil, Don't try it when its really hot, it will get stuck to the foil. You can enjoy them just as it is or you can have with any condiments you like.

PAJAMA TOP AND PANT

Kid's Pajamas

Make your own pattern by placing your kid's well fitting shirt or top like this and trace the outline on a paper. Now double fold the fabric like the image shown below, there should be four layers of fabric and pin the pattern paper to the fabric such that the long straight line of the pattern should be pinned to the folded side of the fabric (left side), and cut the fabric out.

After cutting it should look like this when you open it up.

Trace the sleeves like you did for the top and pin it on the fabric such the the fold line is along the folded part of the fabric, I did the cutting for both the sleeves at the same time, so I placed two folded fabrics on top of each other.

Make a slit for about 4 inches along the midline of the front piece for sewing the buttons and button hole. Cut two rectangular pieces of fabric for about 5 inches long 2.5 inches width.

Take one rectangular piece fold in half along the lengthwise and sew it along the edge of the left slit, now tuck the strip inside and make a top stitch along the length of the strip, your left side would be completed after this, for the right side slit take the second strip and fold it as shown and sandwich the slit between these two folds and stitch it.

This is how it should like after finishing the neck part, trust me the tricky part is over and now all you have to do is attach the sleeves and sew along the sides of the body and hem the bottom of the top and neck.

PAJAMA PANT

Place the pant on the double folded fabric and trace the pant the folded side of the fabric should lie along the straight line of the pant not the crotch side.
After cutting this is it should look like.

Sew along the length of each leg and join the crotch part.

Pin the edge marked as 1 along the edge marked as 2.
This is how it should look after joining the crotch part, now attach the elastic for the waist band, place the elastic along the waist line on the wrong side of fabric fold it sew it, and hem the bottom of the legs.
